From television, movies, or perhaps from personal experience, we have all glimpsed the drama of the modern hospital the fast pace of the emergency room, the methodical intensity of the operating room, the dozen pairs of educated hands setting to work to provide essential care. In hospitals, there are many educated people working together to improve and save lives. Every medical recovery and discovery is the product of teamwork. There are no nonessential jobs in health and medicine. Not all the drama in modern medicine and healthcare takes place in the operating room. There is drama, challenge and satisfaction too-in the occupational therapy room, in the rural home where a mid wife is helping deliver a baby, or in a laboratory looking through an electron microscope. The possibilities are great and growing greater every day as new medical technologies and techniques are developed. Last year Americans spent one trillion dollars on health care, that is 15 percent of the nations total output of goods and services. Annual salary range is from $17,500-$31,200 Growth is expected to be better than average through 2006 for the Medical and Healthcare industries. The demand for medical services has never been greater, and the opportunities for serving are more diverse, and in most cases more plentiful, then ever before. The MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) is a standardized test given in April and August of each year.
